Midnight Sun is meant to give us deeper insight into Edward’s mind – that is, to make us understand what it is like to be a vampire – but Meyer’s writing is so undescriptive and sensationalised that this never materialises. Given that her readership has aged, we might expect Meyer to write in a more mature style, as JK Rowling did in the later Harry Potter novels. Stephenie Meyer is brilliant in her several other novels. The book is an iconic love story of Edward and Bella that comes through a fetching vampire’s point of view. She made a grand return to her Twilight world with this epic and one of the most anticipated novels.
